He has extensive experience in Corporate & Securities (including M&A and Private Equity), Banking & Structured Finance, Outsourcing, Public Policy and Regulatory Compliance. He regularly advises clients on a variety of transactions (M&A, Joint Ventures, other business transactions) and regulatory issues in India.
Prior to joining the Firm, Sandip served as General Counsel -South Asia at Citibank where he managed the legal function for all of Citi’s businesses including Institutional (Capital Markets, M&A Advisory, Corporate Banking, Global Transaction Services, and Sales & Trading Markets) and Retail (Deposits, Lending, Credit Cards, Mortgages and Wealth Management), as well as various strategic initiatives (M&A, Regulatory, etc.).
Before moving to Citibank, Sandip served as General Counsel at GE Capital India after working for several years in–house in GE Capital and Genpact in New York area. His U.S. experience also includes a stint in Sidley and Austin in Chicago, USA from 1995 to 2000 where he worked on a large number of public and private M&A transactions, securities offerings and joint ventures for a number of clients including various corporations and commercial and investment banks. His experience at GE Capital includes a variety of transactions and regulatory advisory work in different GE businesses (including commercial finance, consumer finance, aviation, and energy financial services).
Sandip has spoken at various respected forums such as the International Bar Association, World Bank Conference on Law, Justice and Development, South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA), Inter-Pacific Bar Association, Asian- Mena/In-House Congress, US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), US-India Business Council (USIBC), and Global Outsourcing Association of Lawyers.
His contributions include an article on Negotiation of Outsourcing Contracts published by Practicing Law Institute.
Sandip qualified for the practice of law from the University of Delhi in 1983 and got his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1995.
