Apoorva Murali is a Partner with the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Apoorva has a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a LL.B with an Hons in Intellectual Property.

She has over a decade of experience in handling contentious intellectual property matters and matters driven by commercial exploitation of intellectual property. Her practice includes patents, trademarks, design and copyrights. On the patent side, she handles matters relating to patent prosecution, advisory and litigation. She also handles matters involving advisory and enforcement in relation to trade marks, passing off, copyright, design, internet and technology, confidential information, data protection and customs related issues. Apoorva specializes in contentious matters surrounding intellectual property and regularly appears before various forums in India. She also regularly advises on emerging technology, including software technology. She also has extensive experience in relation to matters relating to copyright, specifically for clients in the media space, which include assisting clients on risk assessment prior to acquiring intellectual property assets and advising on commercial transactions and intrinsic issues related to content development, stakeholder rights, statutory royalty rights etc. She has advised clients such as Fever Inc, Vuclip, Sony etc. She also regularly advises on issues relating to dealings with copyright collection societies in India.

She also specializes in commercial transactions driven by exploitation of intellectual property and regularly handles matters relating to licensing arrangements and other commercial alliances involving intellectual property including structuring and advising on commercial transactions driven by technology and software. Apoorva has advised several technology companies on issues related to software licensing, enforcement and general advisory from an intellectual property perspective. She also deals with matters interfacing with laws on information technology, particularly advisory on aspects relating to data protection and intermediary liability with respect to intellectual property.

Apoorva is admitted to practice law in the Bar Council of Delhi and is a Registered Patent Agent. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
