Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. advised Standard & Poor’s Dow Jones Indices (“SPDJI”) in the sale of its stake in Asia Index Private Limited (“AIPL”) to BSE Limited (“BSE”). AIPL was incorporated in 2013 as a 50:50 joint venture between SPDJ Singapore Pte. Ltd. (a subsidiary of S&P Dow Jones Indices) and BSE, for the purpose of calculating, disseminating, and licensing the widely followed suite of S&P BSE indices (including Sensex) to domestic and international clients, for benchmarking and use as the basis for financial instruments such as ETFs and index funds. The deal is valued at approximately USD 3.6 million.
