Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas advises China Light and Power India Pvt Ltd in acquisition of assets in Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM & Co) has advised CLP India Pvt Ltd (CPL) in the acquisition of three transmission assets of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd including Kalpataru Satpura Transco Private Limited (KSTPL), Alipurduar Transmission Limited (ATL) and Kohima-Mariani Transmission Limited (KMTL).

The Projects Practice Group at SAM & Co acted as legal counsel and adviser for CLP India Pvt Ltd (CPL) on all aspects of the transaction. The transaction team included Mr. Deepto Roy, Partner; Mr. Dnyanraj Desai, Senior Associate; Mr. Abhijit Mukherjee, Senior Associate; Mr. Pranav Nanda, Associate; Mr. Kranthi Mamidanna, Associate and Ms. Manushi Desai, Associate.

Other parties involved were Khaitan & Co that acted as legal advisors for Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited and Ernst & Young that acted as Financial Advisor for the same.

The value of the deal is approximately USD 478 million. The date of signing is July 3, 2019 and the deal will close in 3-12 months.
